Turkey stamp on the world’s housing
According to the information gathered by the Ministry of Economy from the report on overseas contracting services, the sector has undertaken 9,258 projects worth $ 354 billion 648 million in 119 countries until the end of the year 1972,
Only 241 of the project contractors that the Turkish contractors took abroad last year and the cost of 14 billion 666 million dollars were found.
In the regional distribution of the works undertaken abroad from 1972 until the end of 2017, the Independent States Community and the Middle East countries came forward. In this period, Russia took the first place with a share of 19.4 percent in the projects undertaken abroad. In this country, 68 billion 788 million dollars business was undertaken. Turkmenistan was followed by a total project of 13.2 percent and 46 billion 844 million dollars. Libya took the third place with a share of 8.1 percent and a project worth 28 billion 875 million dollars. Iraq was the fourth with a share of 7 percent and projects worth $ 24 billion 827 million.
Tanzania for the first time passed traditional markets
Tanzania took the first order with a 17.3 percent share and a project worth 2 billion 531 million dollars in foreign contracting works undertaken last year. Saudi Arabia followed Tanzania with a 14.1 percent share and a $ 2 billion 72 million dollar project. Projects undertaken in Russia, 12.1 percent share and 1 billion 771 million dollars in the third place in the settlement. The projects for the United Arab Emirates were the fourth with a share of 9.1 percent and a project worth 1 billion 331 million dollars.
According to the report, for the first time, a sub-Saharan African country has emerged as the most project-bearing country, ahead of traditional markets such as the Commonwealth of Independent States and the Middle East.
The first place in the list of projects that Turkish contractors have undertaken so far is housing projects. In this area, 46 billion 865 million dollars of work was done. Housing projects, 45 billion 743 million dollars, roads, tunnels and bridges, 29 billion 396 million dollars, followed by commercial center construction. While 24 billion 357 million dollars of work was undertaken in airport projects, investments in power plant reached to 23 billion 848 million dollars.
Last year, in the projects undertaken abroad, the first order was made with 2 billion 844 million dollars worth of projects. Housing construction, railway with 2 billion 681 million dollars, power plant projects with 2 billion 413 million dollars watched. Turkish contractors undertook a $ 1 billion 686 million airport construction work abroad last year. In the area of highways, tunnels and bridges, a project of 1 billion 605 million dollars was realized.
The new target is sub-Saharan Africa
According to the report of the Ministry of Economy, the number of projects undertaken in recent years has increased to 119 with the addition of Liberia, Chad, Rwanda, Shavers, Sri Lanka, Czech Republic, Estonia, Madagascar, Malawi and Vietnam to traditional markets like the Middle East and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
Ethiopia, Nigeria, Mozambique and Ghana became priority countries as a “target country” study for sub-Saharan Africa as part of the Ministry’s activities.
